Xavier Luffin
Xavier Luffin est professeur ordinaire à l’Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgique), où il enseigne la langue et la littérature arabes. L’un de ses domaines de recherche est le développement de la littéracie en écriture arabe (arabe et swahili ajami) au Congo et dans les pays voisins, du 19e siècle jusqu’à nos jours. Son dernier ouvrage sur ce sujet est : Un autre regard sur l’Histoire congolaise. Les documents arabes et swahilis dans les archives belges (1880-1899), Bruxelles, Fontes Historiae africanae, 2020, 395 p. Il prépare actuellement un autre ouvrage sur le sujet, intitulé : Arabic and Ajami Swahili Literacy in Congo. An Invisible Heritage. Xavier Luffin est également membre de l’Académie Royale de Belgique et membre de l’Académie Royale des Sciences d’Outremer.
Xavier Luffin is a professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), where he teaches Arabic language and literature. One of his research fields is the development of literacy in Arabic script (Arabic and Ajami Swahili) in Congo and the neighboring countries, from the 19th century until nowadays. His last book regarding this topic is: Un autre regard sur l’Histoire congolaise. Les documents arabes et swahilis dans les archives belges (1880-1899), Bruxelles, Fontes Historiae africanae, 2020, 395 p. He is currently preparing another work on the subject, entitled: Arabic and Ajami Swahili Literacy in Congo. An Invisible Heritage. Xavier Luffin is also a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium and the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences.
Xavier Luffin ni profesa katika Chuo Kikuu cha Bruxelles (Ubelgiji), anafundisha lugha na fasihi ya Kiarabu. Mojawapo ya maeneo yake ya utafiti ni maendeleo ya ujuzi wa kusoma na kuandika kwa hati ya Kiarabu (Kiarabu na Swahili Ajami) nchini Kongo na nchi za jirani, kuanzia karne ya 19 hadi sasa. Shaibu Champunga
Shaibu Issa Champunga est doctorant à la Faculté de Lettres, Traduction et Communication de l’Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Ses domaines de recherches comprennent : l’étude linguistique du kiswahili ajami et de l’arabe ; la lexicographie et la linguistique générale du kiswahili. Il a obtenu un Master of Arts en kiswahili à l’Université de Dar es Salaam, en Tanzanie (UDSM).
Shaibu Issa Champunga is a PhD student at the Faculty of Letters, Translation, and Communication, at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). His research interests includes: Linguistic Study of Ajami Swahili and Arabic; Swahili Lexicography, and Swahili General Linguistics. He holds a Master of Arts in Kiswahili from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (UDSM).
Shaibu Issa Champunga ni mwanafunzi wa uzamivu, kitivo cha Barua, Tafsiri na Mawasiliano katika Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) Ubelgiji. Eneo lake la utafiti ni ‘A Linguistic Study of Arabic and Ajami Swahili Documents from Central Africa (Congo, Burundi, and Rwanda). Maeneo mengine ya tafiti anayoshughulikia ni pamoja na Leksikografia ya Kiswahili na Isimu ya Kiswahili kwa ujumla. Amehitimu elimu ya umahiri katika Chuo Kikuu cha Dar es Salaam (CKD), Tanzania.

Oyoko Hamzati Hamza
Oyoko Hamzati Hamza est docteur en sociologie. Il est chercheur et professeur. Il enseigne à l’Université de Kisangani ainsi que dans d’autres institutions d’enseignement supérieur et universitaire en République Démocratique du Congo. Il effectue des recherches sur l’islam et la communauté musulmane en RDC. Il travaille également sur le terrorisme islamiste en RDC et en Afrique de l’Est, il publie sur l’ensemble de ces sujets.
Oyoko Hamzati Hamza holds a PhD in Sociology. He is a researcher and a professor. He teaches at the University of Kisangani (DRC) as well as other higher education and universities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His research focuses on the Muslim community in the DRC, as well as on Islamic terrorism in the DRC and East Africa. He also publishes on all these topics.

أويوكو حمزاتي حمزة حاصل على دكتوراه في علم الاجتماع. هو باحث وأستاذ. يدرّس في جامعة كيسانغاني وفي مؤسسات التعليم العالي وجامعات أخرى في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية. تركز أبحاثه على الإسلام والمجتمع الإسلامي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية. كما يعمل أيضًا على الإرهاب الإسلامي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية وفي شرق إفريقيا، حيث ينشر مقالات حول كل هذه المواضيع

Martin Hullebroeck
Martin Hullebroeck est docteur en Histoire de l’art de l’Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne et maître en philosophie approfondie de l’Université libre de Bruxelles, spécialisé en histoire et politiques du patrimoine et des musées coloniaux, militaires et d’anthropologie. Ses recherches portent sur les conditions d’acquisition, de circulation et de mise en scène des collections dans les milieux militaires et de vétérans coloniaux et leur rôle dans la production des savoirs, en particulier en Belgique. On lui doit notamment la codirection d’un glossaire dédié aux collections coloniales (2024, in Traces du dé/colonial dans les musées, Horizons d’attente) et « Rashid ben Mohammed’s talismanic flag: a partial account of a generative legacy from the Stanley Falls to Brussels and Tervueren » (à paraître, in Translocations. Histories of Dislocated Cultural Assets, Transcript Verlag). Il est actuellement chercheur associé à l’UR 4100 Histoire culturelle et sociale de l’art (HiCSA, Paris 1) et membre du CR Mondes modernes et contemporains (MMC, ULB).
Martin Hullebroeck obtained a PhD in History of Art from the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris) and a master’s degree in Advanced philosophy from the Université libre de Bruxelles. He is specialised in the history and politics of heritage and colonial, military and anthropological museums. He primarily works on practices of collecting, circulating, ordering, and exhibiting collections from Central Africa among the Belgian military, colonial veterans and public institutions. His main contributions are the coedition of a glossary dedicated to colonial collections (2024, in Traces du dé/colonial dans les musées, Horizons d’attente) and “ Rashid ben Mohammed’s talismanic flag: a partial account of a generative legacy from the Stanley Falls to Brussels and Tervueren” (forthcoming, in Translocations. Histories of Dislocated Cultural Assets, Transcript Verlag). He is now a research associate at the lab Histoire culturelle et sociale de l’art (HiCSA, Université Panthéon-Sorbonne) and at the lab Mondes modernes et contemporains (ULB).

مارتن هولبروك
مارتن هولبروك حاصل على دكتوراه في مجال تاريخ الفنّ من جامعة باريس1 بانتيون سوربون وحاصل على درجة الماجستير في الفلسفة من جامعة بروكسل الحرة. هو متخصص في تاريخ وسياسة التراث والمتاحف الاستعمارية والعسكرية والأنثروبولوجيا. تركز أبحاثه على الشروط التي يتم بموجبها اقتناء المجموعات وتداولها وعرضها في أوساط العسكريين والمحاربين القدامى بالحقبة الاستعمارية ودورهم في إنتاج المعرفة، خصوصا في بلجيكا.
بعض المساهمات الرئيسية له تشمل المشاركة في تحرير مسرد مخصص لمجموعات الأعمال والتحف الاستعمارية، بعنوان:

Jihan Safar
Jihan Safar est lauréate d’une bourse post-doctorale Marie Sklodowska-Curie (2024–2026) pour son projet de recherche « Women and Arabic Literacy in Congo during the Colonial Period: A Double Invisibility ». Après avoir soutenu sa thèse de doctorat à Sciences Po Paris en 2015, elle a mené des recherches post-doctrorales sur l’esclavage légal, le genre et le mariage dans le Sultanat d’Oman. Ses recherches actuelles s’attachent à l’étude de la présence omanaise en Afrique centrale et orientale à l’aune du prisme du transnationalisme. Ses principales publications sont : « Écrire l’esclavage au féminin : le roman contemporain omanais » (2024, in Slaveries and Post Slaveries) ; « Explaining Marriage Payments: Mahr Among Omanis » (2018, in Hawwa: Journal of Women in the Middle East and Islamic Cultures) ; « The Dower (Mahr) and wedding ceremony among the Shia of Oman. Religion, Class and Ethnicity » (2022, in Global Dynamics of Shi’a Marriages, eds. A. Moors & Y. Shanneik, Ithaca). Ses recherches s’inscrivent plus généralement au croisement de la démographie anthropologique, des lettres et des sciences politiques. Jihan est également photographe.
Jihan Safar is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (2024–2026) working on “Women and Arabic Literacy in Congo during the Colonial Period: A Double Invisibility”. She obtained her PhD from Sciences Po-Paris (2015). After conducting her postdoctoral research on legal slavery, gender and marriage in the Sultanate of Oman, her current research tackles the Omani presence in East and Central Africa, using the prism of transnationalism. Her main contributions are “Écrire l’esclavage au féminin: le roman contemporain omanais » (2024, in Slaveries and Post Slaveries); “Explaining Marriage Payments: Mahr Among Omanis (2018, in HAWWA: Journal of Women in the Middle East and Islamic Cultures); « The Dower (Mahr) and wedding ceremony among the Shia of Oman. Religion, Class and Ethnicity » (2022, in Global Dynamics of Shi’a Marriages, eds. A. Moors & Y. Shanneik, Ithaca). Her research lies at the crossroads of anthropological demography, literature and politics. Jihan is also a photographer.
Jihan Safar ni mwanafunzi wa ubaadauzamivu wa Marie Sklodowska-Curie (2024-2026), anafanya utafiti wake kuhusu, kutoonekana maradufu kwa wanawake na maandishi ya Kiarabu nchini Kongo wakati wa ukoloni. Alipata shahada ya Uzamivu (PhD) yake kutoka Sayansi Po-Paris (2015). Baada ya kufanya utafiti wake wa ubaadauzamivu kuhusiana na utumwa halali, jinsia na ndoa katika usultani (himaya ya sultani) wa Oman, utafiti wake wa sasa unashughulikia uwepo wa Omani katika Afrika Mashariki na Kati, kupitia prism of transnationalism. جهان سفر باحثة في مرحلة ما بعد الدكتوراه متحصلة على منحة ماري سكوودوفسكا كوري (2024-2026) ويركز بحثها على الحجب المزدوج للنساء والكتابة العربية في الكونغو خلال الحقبة الاستعمارية. حصلت على درجة الدكتوراه من معهد الدراسات السياسية بباريس (2015). بعد أن أجرت بحثها في مرحلة ما بعد الدكتوراه حول العبودية القانونية والجنوسة (الجندر) والزواج في سلطنة عمان، يتناول بحثها الحالي موضوع الوجود العماني في شرق ووسط أفريقيا، من منظور منهج عبر الحدودية. بعض المساهمات الرئيسية لها تشمل:
